Description
This hand-colored copperplate engraved map is titled A Generall Mapp of The County of OXFORD and was produced by cartographer Richard Blome. The map features an ornate title cartouche in the upper right corner stating it was created by his Maty Especiall Command. A decorative dedication cartouche is located at the bottom center addressed to the Rt Hon James Lord Norreys Baron of Rycott which includes a hand-colored coat of arms flanked by two supporters. The cartography delineates the county hundreds, various towns, and topographical features. Bordering regions are identified as Bark Shire, Buckingham Shire, and Northampton Shire. The work includes a scale of miles at the bottom right. The map is presented in a wooden frame with a burgundy mat.
