Description
A French Charles X stationery box, circa 1820. The box is of bombé form, featuring highly figured burr wood veneers. The hinged lid is designed with two horizontal slots and a central decorative gilt-metal plaque inscribed Souvenir. The exterior is further embellished with ornate brass or gilt-metal corner brackets, sunburst-patterned mounts, and scrolled accents. The box rests on four brass ball feet. The interior is divided into compartments with light-toned wood.
