Description
A folding bookstand, crafted from dark-stained hardwood featuring an interlocking X-frame construction. The upper panels are decorated with openwork carving depicting a central peacock with a displayed tail, surrounded by floral and foliate scrolls. The lower supports are ornamented with pierced scrolling patterns and stylized mythical figures, identified as nagas or makaras. The horizontal members are finished with shallow-carved foliate borders. The design allows the stand to be folded flat for storage.
