Lot 214b:
Description
A church pew or hall settle constructed from solid pine, featuring a dense grain pattern characteristic of yellow or heart pine. The piece is designed with a high back containing eleven vertical recessed panels secured between thick upper and lower horizontal rails. The seat is formed from a single heavy plank with a rounded front edge. The structure is supported by two thick-board end standards and a central support leg. The side standards are decoratively shaped with scrolled armrests and clipped-corner tops. Hardware remains include two diamond-shaped metal mounting brackets on the exterior of the side panels. Several small circular holes are visible on the seat and back, likely from previously attached accessories such as hymn book racks. The construction utilizes heavy plank boards consistent with late 19th or early 20th-century rural craftsmanship.
