Description
A single carved oak side chair in the Jacobean style. The piece features a high rectangular back with a top rail decorated with a deeply carved guilloche pattern. The flanking back stiles are embellished with a carved foliate motif. The central back panel contains an incised lozenge design. The seat is constructed from two joined solid oak planks. The frame is supported by baluster-turned front legs and square-sectioned rear legs, joined by a low-set box stretcher. A decoratively scalloped apron is located beneath the front seat rail. Construction utilizes traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery secured with visible wooden pegs throughout. The oak displays prominent medullary ray grain patterns.
