Description
This large wall-mounted mirror is designed in a French Rococo revival style. The rectangular frame is constructed of carved wood with a gesso overlay and features a monumental crest with a central pierced cartouche. The crest is adorned with deep carvings of scrolling acanthus leaves, floral blossoms, and various fruits including grapes and pomegranates. A repetitive egg-and-dart motif borders the inner mirror plate. The frame is finished in a combination of cream paint and gilding, displaying a heavy, uniform craquelure across the surfaces. The mirror features a thick, beveled glass plate. No maker marks or signatures are visible.
