Lot 77:
Description
This work is a vintage color lithograph titled The ‘Frances and Jane’ at Birdham, after an original watercolor by Sir William Russell Flint, RA, PRWS (British, 1880–1969). The composition depicts a coastal scene at low tide in Birdham, West Sussex, featuring two schooners—one with a dark hull and one with a light hull—moored on the mudflats. The artist utilizes a palette of soft blues for the expansive sky, contrasted with earthy ochres, greens, and browns in the foreground to represent the wet sand and tidal pools. The print is presented in an off-white mat and housed in a molded gilded wood frame. A printed identification label is affixed to the lower center of the mat, reading: SIR WILLIAM RUSSELL FLINT RA PRWS / 1880 — 1969 / The ‘Frances and Jane’ at Birdham.
