Modern Paintings And Pictures
Lot 241:
Description
A set of five still life oil paintings, each executed on board and depicting a classical arrangement of fruit within a ceramic bowl. The compositions are rendered against dark, monochromatic backgrounds, drawing inspiration from traditional European still life painting. One work features an assortment of pears with small pink roses; another depicts citrus fruits including lemons and oranges with white blossoms; a third shows green and purple grapes with peaches; a fourth focuses on peaches and berries; and the final painting illustrates a bowl of cherries accompanied by autumn leaves. The ceramic bowls featured in the paintings are decorated with blue floral and geometric patterns. The set is unified by matching dark wood frames with narrow gilded inner lips. The brushwork is smooth and blended, utilizing light and shadow to establish depth and volume. No signatures or inscriptions are visible on the front of the works.
