Description
This giclée on canvas is a contemporary Pop Surrealist work by Xue Wang titled The Night Before Christmas. The composition reimagines the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Little Match Girl, featuring a central figure with stylized, large eyes and long blonde hair seated on snowy steps. The girl holds a small box of matches while a diminutive red dragon breathes a plume of fire nearby. In the foreground, a shop window displays a festive turkey dinner and bears the painted text SWAN VESTAS. The work is hand-signed in blue ink XUE in the lower right corner. It is also hand-numbered 2/150 in gold-toned ink in the lower left. The piece is housed in an ornate, gilded composite frame with a cream-colored liner.
