Description
A two 19th-century Anglo-Indian boxes from the Ceylon region of Sri Lanka. Each box is constructed with a dark-stained ebony frame featuring inlaid circular bone pins. The side and lid panels are inset with natural porcupine quills arranged in parallel patterns. Both boxes are fitted with a sliding lid that reveals a plain, unlined wooden interior. The construction utilizes traditional joinery techniques characteristic of the region and period.
