Description
Maritime ship portrait by Luigi de Simone depicting the three-masted steam yacht Giralda. The vessel is shown in profile under steam, navigating the waters of the Bay of Naples. In the background, the silhouette of a smoking Mount Vesuvius is visible under a light blue, clouded sky. The yacht flies the British Red Ensign at the stern and signal flags from the foremast. The work is executed in watercolor on paper. It is housed in a wooden frame with a gold-toned inner fillet and a wide cream-colored mat.
The painting is inscribed R.Y.S. GIRALDA in the lower left corner, identifying it as a vessel of the Royal Yacht Squadron. I The name GIRALDA. is printed in the centre of the matting below the image.
Measurements: Approx. 78cm x 59cm to the outside of the frame and 63.5cm x 43cm inside mount.
