Lot 138:
Description
This two-piece studio pottery set consists of a domed cover and a matching shallow circular base, likely intended for use as a cheese or butter dome. The item is crafted from red earthenware clay. The exterior of the high-domed cover and the top surface of the base are finished in a pale green glaze featuring a comprehensive fine crazing pattern. The dome is decorated with vertical incised lines that divide the surface into panels, each accented with hand-painted triple-chevron or V-shaped motifs in a dark brown pigment. The dome features an integrated arched handle at the apex and a small central vent hole. The interior of the dome is finished in a contrasting deep, glossy brown glaze. The unglazed underside of the base plate bears an impressed monogram mark consisting of the letters W and P for Winchcombe Pottery.
