Description
A mid-century modern cast iron pedestal stand designed by Robert Welch, part of the Hobart range produced in Chipping Campden, England. The piece features a shallow, circular top with a straight-edged rim. The base is constructed with a distinctive series of tiered discs separated by hourglass-shaped spacers, ending in a flared circular foot. The entire item is finished in a textured matte black patina characteristic of sand-cast iron. The underside of the base bears a cast-in circular mark reading ROBERT WELCH ENGLAND. The underside of the top retains two original labels: a circular white label stating DESIGNED ROBERT WELCH CHIPPING CAMPDEN ENGLAND and a triangular black and yellow label reading as selected for the DESIGN CENTRE LONDON.
