Lot 260:
Description
A large 19th century hand-carved bowl, believed to be made of elm in a circular form on a pedestal. The bowl is hewn from a single piece of dark-stained wood, featuring a textured, adzed exterior and two integrated low-profile lug handles at the rim. The interior of the bowl displays a deep patina with visible smoothed carving marks. The bowl rests upon an octagonal pedestal base with a tapered profile, featuring decoratively shaped bracket-style cutouts at the foot. The overall form and construction are consistent with traditional East Asian vernacular household objects. No maker marks or signatures are visible on either piece.
