Description
A Victorian burr walnut breakfront credenza-style library bookcase of low proportions. The one-piece cabinet features a central projecting section flanked by two recessed side sections. The exterior surfaces are clad in high-quality book-matched burr walnut veneers with boxwood stringing and fine crossbanding. The top displays exceptional figured grain. The three doors feature arched glass panels, each framed by a gilded beaded metal molding. The cabinet is embellished with cast gilt-metal ormolu mounts, including elaborate scrolling foliate and acanthus leaf designs on the stiles and corners. The interior is divided into three fabric-lined sections with adjustable shelving. The cabinet sits on a unified conforming plinth base with blocked feet. No maker marks or labels were found during inspection. Please note that the books shown in the images are for display purposes only and are not included with the furniture lot.
