Description
A set of volumes comprising The Times History of the War, printed and published by The Times at Printing House Square, London. This work represents a comprehensive contemporary historical record of the First World War, issued during and immediately following the conflict. The volumes are uniformly bound in dark half-leather with cloth-covered boards. Each spine features gilt-stamped decorations including five rosettes and gilt-lettered titles and volume numbers. The interior pages are profusely illustrated with black-and-white photographs, maps, and plates. Notable illustrated captions include Zouaves Working Mitrailleuse, French Mountain Artillery, and A French Gun Travelling Over Rough Ground. The title page displays the masthead of The Times with the Royal Coat of Arms and a central engraving of Printing House Square. The set is presented in a large quarto format.
