Description

A set of four Imperial Jingdezhen porcelain plates from the Beauties of the Red Chamber series, dating to the late 20th century. The circular plates are mounted within a large, fan-shaped dark wood frame featuring intricate openwork scroll and geometric fretwork carvings. The frame is further decorated with a row of small, red-accented metal studs along the plate borders and base. Each plate depicts a classical Chinese Meiren (beauty) in a domestic or garden setting, executed in a palette of vibrant overglaze enamels. Several plates bear black ink inscriptions including the cyclical date characters 甲子 (Jiazi), corresponding to the year 1984, alongside multiple red seals. The frame is finished with pointed arrow finials and a central star-shaped base.
