Description

This lot features two early 20th-century Royal Doulton Lambeth stoneware vases. The first vase is a Doulton Slaters Patent example, characterized by a bulbous body with a textured chine or lace-impressed ground in ochre and tan. It is hand-painted with white floral blossoms, red accents, and green foliage, topped with a long, slender neck in a mottled cobalt blue glaze. The base is marked with the impressed Royal Doulton England lion and crown circular mark and shape number 8420. The second vase is an Art Nouveau style piece featuring raised, molded scrolling cartouches and beaded relief bands on the body. It is finished in mottled glazes of blue, sage green, and cream, with a slender neck in a caramel ochre glaze. The base bears the impressed Royal Doulton England lion and crown mark, shape number 8364, and the incised script monogram FJ for artist Florrie Jones (active c. 1882–1928).
