Description
This ceramic figurine depicts a stylized grotesque cat, a form attributed to the Torquay potteries of South Devon, England, specifically Aller Vale or Watcombe. The piece is characterized by an elongated neck, a crouching posture, and a winking facial expression. One eye is inset with a yellow glass cabochon featuring a black pupil, while the other is molded in a closed, winking position. The cat is finished in a high-gloss, translucent emerald green glaze that darkens in the recessed molded details to emphasise the stylized form and musculature.
