Description
A Regency mahogany writing table of trestle-base form, characteristic of the Regency style. The rectangular top features a large inset leather writing surface finished with an ornate gold-tooled decorative border. The frieze is equipped with two drawers, each featuring two circular brass knob pulls. The desk is supported by two flat-panel trestle-end supports, each decorated with a central carved circular rosette. The supports are connected by a substantial turned central stretcher and terminate in splayed legs with bun feet. Construction details include hand-cut dovetail joinery on the frieze drawers. No maker marks or stamps are visible on the piece.
