Description
An Edwardian-period bar brooch featuring a central circular openwork motif constructed in yellow gold. The centerpiece holds a round faceted pale blue gemstone, bezel-set with a millegrain border, which is flanked by two white seed pearls. Each pearl is positioned within a teardrop-shaped openwork frame that joins to a tapering, rounded bar. The reverse of the bar, near the hinge, bears an impressed mark reading 15C, indicating the gold is of 15-karat purity. Below this mark is a separate oval punch containing a character that is worn and not legible. The piece is fitted with a simple pin and a C-style safety catch.
