Description
A vintage cocktail ring featuring a large, oval faceted smoky quartz set in a decorative yellow gold mounting. The translucent deep brown stone is secured by four substantial split-prongs within an ornate openwork gallery characterized by scrolled filigree detailing. The setting is elevated, transitioning into a tapered polished gold shank. The interior of the shank features a series of impressed marks (photo 4): a stylized crown (the gold standard mark), the numbers 375 (indicating 9 karat gold purity), a stylized anchor (the town mark for Birmingham, United Kingdom), and a lowercase letter g in a square stamp. The ring is shown on a mandrel (photo 5) where the shank aligns between the O and P markings.
