Lot 123:
Description
A men’s signet-style ring crafted in yellow gold with a prominent textured finish. The rectangular head features an inlaid checkerboard grid composed of sixteen square-cut stones, alternating between black onyx and reddish-brown chatoyant tiger’s eye. The inlay is flush-set within the gold frame and bordered by two horizontal textured bands. The shoulders and outer shank of the ring exhibit a deep, vertical bark-like or nugget texture, while the interior of the shank is polished smooth.
The interior of the shank bears a series of vertical hallmarks impressed into the metal. The marks include a sponsor’s mark consisting of letters in a shield which are not clearly legible as a specific name, a crown symbol, the fineness mark ‘375’ indicating 9 karat gold, a leopard’s head town mark for London, and a date letter ‘b’ in a clipped-corner shield.
