Lot 138:
Description
A two-tone novelty stock pin or cravat pin crafted in the form of a side-by-side double-barrel shotgun with a break-action aesthetic. The stock, receiver, and trigger guard are constructed from 15 karat yellow gold, while the barrels and pin mechanism are made of white metal. The receiver is decorated with miniature ornamental scroll engraving. The reverse of the yellow gold receiver features a series of five struck hallmarks in separate rectangular and circular frames. These marks include a maker’s mark containing the characters C and another illegible letter, a crown symbol, a shield-shaped mark reading 15 and .625, a leopard’s head, and a lowercase Roman date letter. The white metal barrels and the long, straight needle pin are joined to the receiver by a 90-degree hinge mechanism.
