Description
A limited edition offset lithograph on paper by David Shepherd (British, 1931–2017) titled Highland Cattle. The work depicts five Highland cows in a mountainous Scottish landscape, rendered with a palette of purples, browns, and greens to suggest a misty atmosphere. The print is pencil signed by the artist David Shepherd in the center of the lower margin. The lower right margin features the hand-written edition number 640/850 in pencil. The lower center margin contains the printed title HIGHLAND CATTLE. A printed signature and date reading David Shepherd 82 appears in the lower right of the plate. The lower left of the plate bears the copyright text © Solomon & Whitehead 1982. An embossed Fine Art Trade Guild (FATG) blind stamp is located in the lower left margin, featuring a figure in a rectangular frame followed by three separate embossed square boxes containing the letters H, D, and L. The print is housed under glass in a gilt-wood frame with a multi-layered white and purple mat.
