Lot 280:
Description
A set of four early 19th-century hand-colored intaglio prints, specifically aquatints with engraving, depicting various stages of a traditional English greyhound coursing hunt. The series includes four distinct scenes, each centered in the lower margin with a printed title in uppercase letters: GOING OUT, THE DEATH, FINDING, and COURSING. The compositions illustrate figures on horseback, handlers leading leashed greyhounds, and the active pursuit of game across rolling, rural landscapes. Each print shows a visible plate mark surrounding the central image area. Smaller text is present in the lower left and right corners under each image, but these inscriptions are not legible. The prints are presented in matching dark wood frames with simple profiles and are set behind glass with off-white matting.
