Description
This color aviation print, titled Duel of Eagles by artist Robert Taylor, was released to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Battle of Britain (1940-1980). The artwork depicts an aerial engagement between a British Supermarine Spitfire and a German Messerschmitt Bf 109 over Northern France in 1941, representing the aircraft of pilots Douglas Bader and Adolf Galland. The print is hand-signed in pencil by the artist in the lower margin. It is further distinguished by the original pencil signatures of Group Captain Sir Douglas Bader and Generalleutnant Adolf Galland. The piece is housed in a gilt-finished frame with a dark green mat under glass.
