Lot 332:
Description
An early 19th-century oval enamel portrait miniature pendant, depicting a young woman in profile wearing a yellow-ribboned bonnet and a pink garment. The piece is set within a simple gold-toned metal frame featuring a suspension loop. The reverse counter-enamel is inscribed in purple ink, identifying the sitter as Elizabeth, the second daughter of Sir David Lindsay of Evelick and wife of Augustus Shutz, Esq. The inscription further details that it was painted in London in June 1831 by Henry Bone (British, 1755-1834), noted as R.A. Enamel Painter to His Majesty. The item displays fine detail throughout the portrait.
