Description
A Victorian-era japanned metal deed or dispatch box manufactured by Milners Safe Company Limited. The box is constructed from sheet steel with a black lacquered finish. The exterior is decorated with gold-toned pinstriping and stenciled foliate designs at the four corners of the lid. The front of the box features a personalized inscription in gilt block letters: H.D. DICKIE. The lid is fitted with a central brass-mounted swing handle and an internal locking mechanism. A small brass plate on the interior lock housing is marked MILNERS SAFE COMPANY LIMITED. The interior of the box is finished in black. One key is included.
