Lot 42:
Description
This collection consists of vintage painted metal toy figures, primarily depicting farm life with select wildlife and human elements. The figures are constructed using the hollowcast method, typical of early to mid-20th-century toy manufacturing, in the style of manufacturers such as Britains Ltd. or Taylor & Barrett. The assortment includes three human figures comprising a farmer in a gray coat, a figure kneeling with a bucket, and a standing figure in a dark coat. Animal figures include six cows or bulls in varying poses and color patterns, six pigs and piglets of different sizes, five sheep, and a small dog. Poultry is represented by turkeys, chickens, hens, and a chick. A single gray elephant figure provides a wildlife component. The collection also includes a silver-tone milk churn accessory. Each piece is hand-painted and composed of a white metal alloy, likely lead. No maker’s marks are visible on the figures.
