Description
A set of Brentleigh Ware glazed earthenware breakfast service items produced by Howard Pottery Co. Ltd. in Staffordshire, England. The collection is presented on a matching scalloped oval tray and consists of a teapot with lid, a cream jug, an open sugar bowl, a teacup, and a four-slot toast rack. Each piece features a vertically ribbed beehive or melon form characteristic of Art Deco design. The service is finished in a pale green glaze with darker green shading in the fluting. Handles and the teapot lid are embellished with molded and hand-painted fruit motifs, including grapes and stone fruits. The underside of the pieces bears a green printed mark reading Brentleigh ware STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND.
