Description
A pair of English fine bone china cups and saucers manufactured by W.T. Copeland and Sons for the British Royal Yacht service. Each piece features a wide border decorated with cobalt blue scrollwork and heavy gilded highlights. The front of the tapered cups and the center of the saucers are adorned with a cobalt blue garter crest containing the gilded inscription THE ROYAL YACHT, surmounted by a blue crown. The rims, handles, and foot rings are finished with gold bands. The underside of the pieces displays multiple markings: a blue circular transfer mark for W. T. COPELAND AND SONS STOKE ON TRENT ENGLAND, a green transfer mark for COPELANDS CHINA ENGLAND, and the pattern number 8120 hand-painted in iron-red enamel. Small impressed production marks are present on the saucers.
