Lot 128:
Description
This antique industrial tool is a specialized setting hammer, also known as a tinner or riveting hammer, once used in the operations of the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER). The hammer features a forged steel head with a long, rectangular profile, beveled edges, and flat striking faces. The side of the steel head is clearly stamped with the initials L.N.E.R. in a serif font, identifying it as property of the British railway company that operated between 1923 and 1948. The head is secured to a tapered wooden handle with a visible metal wedge at the eye.
