Description
This mirrored pair of seated dog figurines is manufactured by Royal Doulton in the style of traditional Staffordshire spaniels, specifically modeled as King Charles Spaniels. Each figurine features a white glazed porcelain body decorated with stylized gold luster marks resembling three-pronged spurs scattered across the coat. The dogs wear molded gold luster collars with heart-shaped pendants. The faces are detailed with orange eyes, black pupils, and black-painted muzzles and noses. The paws are finished in a matte gray glaze with gold luster claws. The underside of each figurine bears the stamped Royal Doulton backstamp in black, which includes the words MADE IN ENGLAND and ROYAL DOULTON surrounding a central quatrefoil motif surmounted by a crown and lion. Both bases are also impressed with the model number 1378-5. To facilitate pairing, the bases are further impressed with orientation letters: L for the left-facing dog and R for the right-facing dog. Small hand-painted black decorator marks are visible on the unglazed foot rims.
