Description
A glazed stoneware vase manufactured by Royal Doulton in England. The vessel features a high-shouldered ovoid form with a tapering lower body and a slightly flared neck and rim. It is decorated with a prominent central band depicting stylized fruit clusters, including grapes, plums, and pears, along with green foliage. This decoration is executed in a tubelined technique with raised slip outlines and finished in polychrome glazes of green, plum, pink, and ochre. The lower portion of the vase is finished in a streaked cobalt blue glaze, while the neck and rim feature a mottled, variegated glaze of tan, cream, and pale lavender. The underside bears the impressed circular Royal Doulton factory mark with a lion atop a crown and the word England. Additional impressed markings include shape number 9183, pattern code X8721V, and a small character D.
