Description
An antique cigarette holder featuring a tapered body of translucent honey-colored amber. The wider end is fitted with a 9-karat gold band. The gold mount bears a series of impressed marks: the initials MF within a hexagonal cartouche; the numeral 9; the decimal .375; an anchor symbol. These marks indicate 9-karat gold fineness (.375), assayed in Birmingham, England. The amber body exhibits characteristic internal inclusions and cloudiness throughout. The piece is housed in its original fitted presentation case with a black textured exterior and a tan velvet-lined interior shaped to the holder.
